Afoxolaner/moxidectin/pyrantel (brand name Nexgard® Plus) is a prescription combination parasiticide used in dogs. It is labeled for use as follows:
Afoxolaner/moxidectin/pyrantel (Nexgard® Plus) provides protection for 1 month in dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older, weighing 1.8 kg or greater.
Afoxolaner/moxidectin/pyrantel (Nexgard® Plus) comes in a chewable tablet form.
When used as a preventive or for intestinal parasites: You will not see the effects of this medication on your animal outwardly, but it will begin working within 24 hours.
When used to treat fleas and ticks: Fleas begin to die 4 hours after a dose. Ticks will die within 48 to 72 hours of biting a treated dog. Fleas and ticks must feed on the dog before they will die.
If you miss a dose of afoxolaner/moxidectin/pyrantel, give it as soon as you remember, and then continue with the regular dosing schedule. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dosing schedule. Do not give the pet two doses at once.

Drug sensitivities can develop over time, with repeated exposure. Your pet may have no reaction after the first few doses but may develop a sensitivity later. It is important to watch for signs of an allergic reaction over the entire course of the treatment.
Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian immediately. This medication is long lasting, meaning the effects will last for the entire month.

At home, monitor for any side effects such as those noted above. If any side effects occur, discontinue the medication, and contact your veterinarian.
If you suspect an overdose or an adverse reaction to the medication, call your veterinary office immediately. If they are not available, follow their directions in contacting an emergency facility. Be prepared to provide information about the product and your pet’s weight and symptoms.
